10th November, 2015

Today, I saw the Nifty was down 1.5%. The markets have been falling continuously. I think I received an email from Fundsindia saying the markets have fallen over 5% in the last one month or so.

I am freaking out. I have over 6 lakhs invested in equity funds. The value of my investments has fallen by almost Rs. 16,000 in a week. And I am investing ₹30,000 per month. I think I should stop investing for a while.

18th November, 2015

The markets fell by a percent again today. I was looking up the history of the Nifty. From a high of 8,295 it has fallen to 7,731 now. I am going to lose my money. I think I should stop my SIPs. In fact…

Yes. Just logged in to Fundsindia and stopped all my SIPs.

2nd December, 2015

The markets have been rising ever since I stopped my SIPs. What the …

11th December, 2015

The markets have been falling again. Today it went close to 7,600. I think it was a good decision to stop my SIPs.

15th January, 2016

The Nifty breached 7,500 today. My investments are going down the drain! Why did I have to invest so much money in this thing. Whoever said I will make quick gains in mutual funds. That Ramesh is going to get an earful from me the next time I see him. Thankfully, I’m not investing more.

11th February, 2016

The Nifty went below 7,000 🙁 . Why didn’t I redeem instead of just stopping SIP! I don’t know what to do now.

9th March, 2016

The markets are starting to move up for the past few days. It seems the situation is not as bad as I had envisioned. Let’s hope for the best.

4th April, 2016

The markets are definitely on an uptrend. They have been above 7,700 for quite a while. I think I should start my SIPs again. And I bought a new phone yesterday! The Galaxy S7 Edge, it’s a really nice phone, latest model in the market. Never thought I could afford it, but saved up so much over the past months that it just seemed affordable enough. My bank balance was so high!

21st April, 2016

OK. Nifty is reaching close to 8,000. Should definitely start my SIPs again now.

Why does the market rise only when I’m not investing? 😐

3rd May, 2016

I started all my SIPs again. I also wanted to invest ₹1,50,000 that I would have been invested during December to April. But because of my phone and the earrings I bought for my wife (surprise gift! And bonus points for me!) I managed only ₹70,000. Maybe I shouldn’t have done that 🙁

2nd June, 2016

The markets are up so much. My investments are back on track in profits! I am so happy.

11th July, 2016

Going to meet that Ramesh fellow tomorrow. Will tell him all about how smartly I handled my investments without his help. He would have just gotten me into more losses.

12th July, 2016

Met Ramesh today. He was saying that the ₹1,50,000 he invested during December to April is already up to ₹1,71,900. Started lecturing me, said if I had continued my SIP, I would have bought units at a lower NAV and would already be reaping the rewards. He showed me some calculations, said if I had not stopped my SIPs, my ₹1,50,000 would have turned to ₹1,73,200 as well.

#@!!@$# Ramesh. Couldn’t he have told me not to stop my SIPs? 😡
