Solar entered the SADC region through Zambia in 2010, followed by a distribution platform and manufacturing facility in South Africa and the acquisition of Problast in 2024. Omnia, with FY26 revenue of ~US$1.41bn, brings an established mining platform along with integrated nitric acid and ammonium nitrate manufacturing capabilities, which could strengthen raw-material security, supply reliability and cost competitiveness across Solar’s explosives value chain. Its Agriculture business provides additional diversification, although the ability to integrate the business while maintaining Solar’s existing margin profile will remain a key monitorable. Management estimates Omnia could generate ~US$180mn of standalone EBITDA, before synergies, compared with Solar’s FY26 EBITDA margin of ~28%, implying that the combined entity could see some margin dilution initially. The acquisition is subject to shareholder, regulatory and competition approvals and is expected to close in early-to-mid CY27, broadly making FY28 the first meaningful period for consolidation and integration benefits.

Rising order book and improving revenue mix – Solar Industries’ order book has expanded sharply, rising from ~₹15,000 crore in FY25 to ~₹21,300 crore in FY26 and further to ₹21,350 crore as of Q1FY27, providing strong multi-year revenue visibility. The key driver has been the defence business, with the defence order book exceeding ₹18,000 crore as of June 2026, including the ₹6,100 crore Pinaka programme and other domestic and international defence orders. The increasing contribution from defence is also resulting in a structural shift in the revenue mix, with defence revenue rising significantly from ~18% in FY25 to ~27% in FY26, while the relative contribution of traditional explosives has declined. This shift could improve business stability by diversifying Solar beyond its traditional mining and industrial explosives exposure, while also supporting margins through a higher-value product mix. The company has additionally secured international defence orders and is developing products such as Bhargavastra, loitering munitions and other advanced ammunition systems, providing avenues for further order inflows. With FY27 revenue guidance of ₹14,000 crore, the existing order book provides substantial visibility against the targeted growth. However, execution remains an important monitorable given the sharp increase in the order book, particularly the pace of defence deliveries, capacity commissioning and conversion of the order pipeline into revenue.

Q1FY27 – On a consolidated basis, Solar reported revenue from operations of ₹3,668 crore in Q1FY27, its highest-ever quarterly revenue, up 70.3% YoY from ₹2,154 crore in Q1FY26 and 20.2% QoQ from ₹3,053 crore in Q4FY26. EBITDA, rose 35% to ₹2,750 crore, with EBITDA margin expanding to 27.95% (from 26.94%) on a richer defence and export mix.
